Either your computer is slow.So add an extra ram.Or your Os system is corrupted .Just reboot your pc & format your c drive with ntfs quick format. Then reinstall your Os again from a bootable cd.But you will loose all the data in cdrive when you format it so transfer all the data to another location before formatting.

If your pc has a minimum of 256/512mb of ram then you know your os is corrupted.

Your problem could be any number of issues, so it is difficult to suggest what to do. Startup is one of the common times for a computer to freeze up because so much information is being processed and run. I guess the only thing I could suggest with the little info is attempt to boot your computer off of the CD it came with (if it did) or borrow one from someone else. If it starts up just fine that way chances are re-installing your OS might just do the trick. There are plenty of places online that walk you through the process so you don't lose any of your files when you do it. If your computer does not boot from a CD still, then chances are your problem is deeper (such as a hard drive going out, or something worse even). If that is the case I would suggest taking it in or asking someone who knows about computers to guide you through various was of diagnosing the problem

It can be due to a virus attack or something.

- Cut or unplug any internet connection

- I hope you have a good antivirus(try avast home edition - free) and anti spyware(try super antispyware -free). update it after install.

- Try restarting in safe mode then scan your system nicely with both.

OR

- its a startup problem so just check if there any unwanted startup application running. (control panel)

OR

If everything fails then boot up a new OS but that should be the last options. Wait for others to answer.

Have a nice day

It sounds like the RAM could be your problem.

If you have Vista and are able to get in, run the RAM test program that is built in. See below link for instructions.

Reset your BIOS to defaults. examine your stressful ware one via one via removing hte RAM and stressful disk and see if tey artwork in ither desktops. in the event that they donot, then there is your issue and in the event that they artwork, chicken backupo your records immediately. Then boot your equipment with a homestead windows bootable CD and setting up homestead windows interior the stressful disk after formatting it. Your issue could get resolved.
