Question:
My computer won't boot up?
2009-06-21 06:44:42 UTC
It all started a few days ago. The whole day i kept running into a message that said "internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" the second after clicking the internet icon. I figured out that i could still use the window i opened up so i moved the sign out of the way and went about my business. A little later, my mom goes on to get directions from mapquest and calls me down because the computer said we got a virus. I did what our software said to do, but it said the files couldnt be uninstalled. Right after that however, it said that the virus was removed. I thought nothing of it.
The next day, i go to turn on the computer, but as it boots up, i hear my tower power down and i see a blue screen come up with this written on it:

STOP: c0000135 {unable to locate component}
This application has failed to start because USER32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Any idea what this means and how i can fix it? Is there any connection between the internet issue?

You can google the errror.

Also a good trick if you have original os type from run sfc /scannow

This scans entire os and replaces all missing files.

Takes about 30min.

Try starting in safe mode USER.DLL is your direct Libary Link (dll), either you have been wiped by a virus or you did so yourself by using a registry cleaner or some speed tune up computer Program.

press F8 just before windows starts do so several times, choose last known good configurations that worked or save mode and then do a system restore to an day bfore you had problems

Insert the Windows XP installation CD and boot computer from this CD.

Choose and run Recovery Console.

Choose Windows operating system you want to repair.

Restore the User32.dll file from the Windows XP installation CD (instead "D:" use letter of your CD-ROM drive):

expand D:\i386\user32.dl_ c:\windows\system32\

In case the command fails, please use the following command to rename original user32.dll and repeat the command above.

ren user32.dll user32.bak

Restart computer and boot Windows normally

hmm im not really sure, this is a newbie for me, it sounds like you may have had a hack, if it looks like you have had a virus then all of a sudden it dissapears thats not right, and for viruses to have a such a impact on a computer doesn't make sense either, somethings not linking here, i would try what the other guy said, if you can get to the BIOS screen try and change the boot the DRIVE C... if that doesn't work let me know..
