Where ya been?
That's a possible Power Saving setting,
It turns off the screen after a certain amount of time (as set by the user).
Adjust in with Control Panel > Power Saving
You can also start a screen-saver, a wallpaper, shutdown, poke yer nose time, go to bed time, shut yer mouth time, read a magazine time to learn about pooters, etc.

It's either a screen saver (blank screen) or power saving. More than likely it's the power save settings turning off the monitor. On a Windows PC, open Control Panel, select small icon view or classic view, then open Power Options. The options there allow you to set or disable the timeout for the computer to turn off the monitor when idle.

It's a programming curse on all computers. Rumors say it was original put there to save the life of your monitor. I believe they called it: screensaver. However, it's nothing but a tool to confuse people.
Apparently there is a solution in the manual or help menu to change how it works, but who the hell reads reads those things.

It's called a screensaver.

Most screensavers feature some kind of animation or other visual stuff, but the simplest screensaver is a blank screen.
Hope that helps!

That is your computer going to sleep to save power and wear and tear.
Call it the sleep screen.
