I had recently tested a single 4gb PC-6400 800 MHz module in HP Proliant ML115 G5 model. It has not worked. At one place somebody has written that this model can't support more than 2GB RAM module per slot. Can somebody confirm what is the maximum GB of RAM module per slot this model supports?

From the HP Quicspec

Memory.

Four (4) DIMM slots

1GB (1x1GB) Standard/8GB Maximum, using PC2-6400 DDR2 Unbuffered ECC memory, operating at 800MHz

That would imply 2GB / slot (4 slots and 8GB max)..

According to the manual for that system (See page 45)-

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01410662.pdf

The HP ProLiant ML115 G5 server has four DIMM slots that support up to 8 GB maximum system

memory (2 GB in each of the four DIMM slots).

You must adhere to the following guidelines when adding or replacing memory modules:

• Use only DDRII 667/800 unbuffered ECC DIMMs in 512 MB, 1 GB or 2 GB configuration.

• Supported DIMM configurations are single DIMM, one pair (two DIMMs), or two pairs (4

DIMMs). Channel A corresponds to the 1A and 3B slots, while channel B corresponds to the 2A

and 4B slots.

• For optimal 2 DIMMs configuration, populate 1A and 2A slot.

That's correct max 8GB total with 2GB per slot
