I have Windows XP on my machine.
When I boot the PC. It give messages like. CMOS settings wrong.
Press F1 to change settings. Press F2 to load default settings and continue.
My system date time is getting changed automatically every timeI shut down my PC. So I need to set it to current date manually every time I start my PC.
Also the O/S fails to load and PC goes in a hanged state many times at boot time. So I have to keep restarting.
Is this a CMOS battery problem or could there some other problem?

Yes, you need to replace your CMOS battery. That will take care of the date/time problem. After you have installed the battery and have changed the date, check to see if you need to make any other changes to your Bios, such as USB keyboard on, etc.

The fact that the battery is bad could be what hangs up your computer but it could be caused by something else. But one things is for sure, the battery is DEAD!

In present day computers that's no concern the two simply by wealthy motor vehicle-detecting advantageous factors. attempt to disconnect the HDD, perhaps that it inflicting the themes. If the computer screen remains sparkling each and every of the time, it may additionally be a concern of your snap shots card.

If still in doubt, yes it is the cmos battery.

Cmos battery provides energy to the computer when it is switched off thus maintaining things like time and date.

On average they may last for up to eight years.

Carefully remove battery and replace it.

It could be your CMOS battery. Go buy a new one, just take out the old one and take it with you. Put the new one and see if you still have problems.
