If you are trying to boot from cd then its doesn't matter which os is installed on it.

first remove one drive by removing cable from it and make sure another is working or not & vise versa.

If both are working properly then just change your jumper settings keep first on master and another on slave.

If both are not working then check them by changing your connecting IDE cable

~Your cable might not support cable select so make one of your optical drives master and the other slave. this should then work.

If you can't boot from your optical drives then you may have to make one or both what ever you require the preferred one ahead of your HDD in bios boot order.
