You see evertime I start it up it only goes so far and then it quits and shuts down and starts back and does this repeadly until I run it in safe mode. I cant print nor have sound when I run it in safe mode.

Safe mode limits your access to certain things hence the reason you cannot access speakers. Your computer sounds like it is having a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) which was created by microsoft to protect from fatal errors. Get Driver/BIOS updates, check and make sure no hardware is jamming or stuck (even a fan stuck can cause BSOD), and if all else fails, reinstall Windows XP.

since it works fine in the safe mode, a hardware probelm can be ruled out. must b a driver conflict or virus etc.
try chkdsk, on all the hard drives and partitions with a /f parameter.
Eg,
C:\> chkdsk c: /f
in the DOS mode (WinKey+R; type cmd to get the prompt). If the system still reboots then, open the system in safemode and goto Run. type msconfig.exe
on the subsequent dialog box that shows, choose diagnostic startup. if everything works fine here, try loading selective starup and choose the options that become avaliable one by one. If the system hangs when enabling a certain feature, like in case u seleted Process WIN.INI and System.INI and the system started well but when u chose Load Startup services it rebooted, then the problem is with the startup services secton. jump to that page and select one service at a time, or just disable all Third Party startup services (non-Microsoft). This will help you identfy the problem.
I know it is heck of a lengthy proccedure, but u gotta bear with it!

Windows is designed to automatically restart when it encounters a "serious" problem. Your problem appears to be related to a Windows "blue screen of death" (BSOD) and is rebooting automatically.
In order to really begin troubleshooting your primary problem, you'll have to reconfigure Windows to stop, rather than reboot, when it encounters it's boot problem. Generally, you can press the F8 button when first starting the machine, then select the "Disable automatic restart on system failure" option in the boot menu. Once Windows starts and "blue screens" you can then obtain the STOP code associated with the error. Use this STOP code to research the root cause of your problem, or post the code here for further assistance.
As another poster indicated, running SAFE mode will not load the drivers necessary for hearing sound or printing. You'll need to run Windows "normally" to properly use those features.
Good luck!

its stopping to protect the computer
there are repairs+stuff-in my experience-its best to reinstall windows fully-one or 2 items internal can also cause this-if the ram isnt seated properly etc-make sure its all clean-make sure ats all seated+tight
are u sure u have no virus? or spyware
if u can scan in safe do that
if u reinstall windows+it still happens chances are its internal as only windows will be present-are u able 2 send windows reports-i had this once+of all things it was nero stoppin me!-ergo the reinstall method will determine internal or oem
do u blue screen much?
people usually turn thier noses up at reinstall as its deemed as hard-its not+any data not on disc or backed up is data you dont or dint really want-i wouldnt trust a computer 2 keep or hold anythin-thats why govts keep ALL paprework!(+then lose it on the underground lol)
reinstall is easier than the 98 different remedies ull get on here from bios to registery-time taken 2 reinstall 2 hrs tops
at least ull kno where the problem lies, all the best

It may be a fatal error that is causing the computer to restart. You can easily stop the restart problem by changing your system
features to restrict automatic startup when your computer's having a problem. Here is how:
Use System Failure Settings to Stop Automatic Restarts.
1. Click Start and Open the Control Panel
2. Go to System and Maintenance, Click on System.
3. Select Advanced System Settings and choose Advance tab.
4. Under Startup and Recovery, click on Settings.
5. Under System failure uncheck Automatically restart.

►System Properties
►Setup & Recovery
►Settings
►Clear the Auto Restart Box
Restart WINDOWS in normal mode
Then RUN chkdsk /f

First thing I would rule out is any hardware/driver conflicts:
In XP: Start>control Panel>system>hardware>device manager. See if there are any yellow icons indicating a driver conflict,if so right click it and select update(sometimes it helps to select uninstall then restart the pc and let it reinstall the conflicted driver.Last time I had this problem ,I pulled my ATI videocard and reseated it.Problem solved

Sure sounds like you got the same virus my grandson had on his computer last year. We try-ed everything and nothing helped it, not even system restore.
We had to find someone that had one of those magnetic disc that wipe all memory out then force it back in again at least what you want to save they can put back in cost last year $50.00 American.
Most places that work on computer have these disc and know how to use them.

I agree with Admin Guru. It sounds like you have a virus infection or maybe a trojan. You might want to consider doing a system restore back to a date when the computer did not have the problem.
