Hi,
i suddenly came up with a problem that my computer has turned very very slow in processing stuff..
it takes a lot of time to open application.. freezes quickly..
takes 15 mins to copy around 700 mb from a usb and around 20 mins to write a dvd..
my windows partation drive still has around 9 gb free which is sufficient enough to ensure tht my primary drive is NOT running out of free space, so tht is not an issue..
pls suggest me any method to tackle this problem..

please note that i am not a gamer at all !!!

Pc registry Errors cause pc slow down or pc errors.

Clean your Registry can make your computer faster

If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working faster. If you using your computer for normal stuff and not gaming. You don't always need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.

First, if you haven't cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

2. Clear your Windows cache files, this is your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how:

1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser

2. Click Start, click "Control Panel", and then double-click "Internet Options".

3. On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.

4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the "Delete all offline content" check box , and then click OK.

5. Click OK.

3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:

1. Open your Start menu.

2. Click Run

3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"

4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab

5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.

6. Click "OK"

Did you run chkdsk from another account? Does that help? The errors on the disk could mostly be all in the area of the hard drive used for your account. When the errors become overwhelming the drive will stop working and you could lose all you data. Make a good backup of important files. A system restore will not get rid of bad sectors. The bad sectors could be slowing your computer because windows has to try to reread the hard drive many times in order to get the data. In that case restore would not help. If you have a virus or software problem the restore would help a slow computer. Hope this helps

First things first. You ARE running out of space, because 9GB of free space isn't much. As you mentioned you surf the internet and download stuff, please carry out a full system scan for viruses, malware etc. Go to Start Menu->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Cleanup and remove all the unwanted files. Under the System Tools, there is a program called Disk Defragmenter. It will take a long time to Defragment but it is worth waiting for. If possible transfer your media on a different media storage device and remove all unwanted media and clear up the TEMP folder.

And please stop repeating a question. You already had a few answers the last time you posted a question.

Malware or sudden memory fault.

1. Run an antivirus (if there is a malware it will most probably wont allow any reputed antivirus to run, so thats an indication)

2. Run memtest program.

try to overclock your computer and if possible go for RAM booster software.if nothing works delete unwanted files and run disk defragmentation (programs>accesories>system tools>disk defragmentation).virus may also slow down your computer.
