the minimum system requirements for sims3 is:

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz (Vista)

Memory: 1.5GB (Vista)

Hard Drive: 6.5GB of free space and 1GB for additional content

Graphics: DirectX 9.0c compilant card with 128 MB RAM (NVIDIA FX 5900/ATI 9500 or better)

sims 2 and 3 will play just fine with 2gbs of ram and any graphics card above nvidia fx 7000. everything else looks good

mooseboys's answer is overkill but if you have the money, the best thing you can do is increase the ram/memory

if you don't want a core i7 then get the best options, if you plan to upgrade within the next 2 years then get the specs listed below.

get a 64bit os

at least 4gb of ram

get the cheapest quad core

and get a nvidia graphics card and you're good to go.

dells dont have core i7 processors yet. gateways do

It depends on the graphics. It does not state what graphics it is using, so no way to tell.

But everything is fine for the Sims 2 and 3.
