I just found out about Windows Virtual PC and I have a question? If you run a virtual pc, and you get a virus on that pc. Does that give your actual computer a virus or is it just on that virtual pc, and you can delete the virtual pc and it will go away? Also, does your virtual pc have all the programs you have on your host computer on it?

No, a virtual o/s is one that runs in what is called a "sandbox." A sandbox is an isolated system. A virus cannot get outside of the sandbox or the virtual environment. When you shut down the virtual machine, the virus and everything else evaporates.

It's unlikely for a virus to move from a virtual machine to the host machine. Usually virtual machines are contained in the database file that you create when you initally setup the v. machine.

in a matter of speaking, it's still a pc, virtual of not, and it's microsoft, so yes, you can get viruses and yes the use of anti-virus software on any pc is a must unless it's not windows based. if it's not windows based then the chances of viruses is way lower than windows based pc

Well when you've got most important data there you must however it'll discover a dramatic diminish in speed because of the virtualization. I use a virual windows Xp on my mac and whenever i get a virulent disease i just delete it and reinstall.
