Why can't my 8600 gts work with my motherboard?

Alright so I was using my friends gtx 260 completely fine with my motherboard and never once had an issue. Now I cant even seem to get my monitors to work with it at all. Dxdiag wont even read the graphics card. The fan is running on the card but nothing will pop up on my screen. If i plug my VGA cable directly into the motherboard I can boot into 1280x1024 when my native resolution is 1680 x 1050. Ive tried to install nvidia drivers and they get a error because it doesnt think my graphics card is in the slot. If someone could give me some things to try out on how to fix this it would be much appreciated. I'll post my dxdiag info at the bottom of the page. Thanks.

Did you check the bios and see if you have to set the video to card, rather then to integrated? Some motherboards have to have it set one way or the other. If you are running with integrated, they maybe it is set for that and won't run the Video card. Get into the bios and check to see if you can set it for just Video card.

But before you do, first make sure you have the graphic cards drivers available, in a file or on disc.

Remove the Video card, completely, and hook up monitor to the integrated vga port. Restart.

Then get into the Control Panel, Program and Features, Nvidia drivers, and remove the display driver that was installed earlier. (Display driver only)

Reboot, and then install the new drivers for your 8600 gts.from the disc or from the file. Once it is installed, shut your computer down, restart to logo and get into bios..

Set up your bios for video card, and then, install the video card. then restart and see what happens.

Should be working fine. but what i would do is

1.Go to Bios, check all settings such as whether the 'Primary video adapter' is set to "Pci-E" (You have a Pci-e card so i know) Also setting (i forgot the name)..To plug and play. make sure everything else works fine to.

2. make sure you have latest drivers

3. try taking it out and putting it back in the slot

Usually its just a Bios problem. Seeing as the info you told us, it has to be. Becuase when you change the Primary video adapter from PCI to PCI-E it goes from integrated cpu proccesses to always using your graphics card for video.

Also your one of the only people i see around here posting system info. Appriecated

It should run! Seems your computer is not reading the card! Try to reseat it, take it out and than plug it back in. Check to see if your bios is set properly for plug & play devices.

i'd say convinced, searching on if the RAM on the motherboard is a minimum of DDR2-6400. If the RAM on the MB is slower than on the video card, then u can are compatible topics.
