Macs are better than PCs due to there being no viruses for Mac OS X; having the most advanced operating system of any personal computer, better hardware and software, along with greater durability, higher resale value, and the top-rated customer support for the past 3 consecutive years.

Mac is way better. If you think about it...Pc's get viruses!!!! Mac doesn't. That enables the mac to go by quicker and the internet is more dependable. Plus, the mac is more sleek. If you look at Windows Vista,that computer is so slow!!!! Plus, a lot of warnings like 'do you want to do this or do you want to do that' and it just gets annoying. I have a Pc and a mac, and i love my mac! I can't stand my PC! It's terrible. Mac does everything PC does, only BETTER. If I had to choose between the two it would be mac-no brainer.

if u r new to computers and just going to do normal word and internet both r ok, if u like beauty more than the performance MAC is better, if u r an computer enthusiast then there is only 1 choice "PC".

MAC want allow u to do any overclocking at all. Its like u paid (a lot than it deserves) 4 it but Apple still controls what u should do on their product. but when it come to PC u can do any think u want , if u like games PC is the only choice , MAC have games but not like PC and most of the good games come to MAC late. there is a fault statement that MAC want get virus. that is wrong MACs too get virus ,that's y they have anti virus software for MACs too. its easy for a hard ware manufacture to write a software that well compatible with their Hardware, but still u get that beach ball in mac, windows works on infinite amount of configurations it even works on MAC. if u ask people who knows about computers they will say PC will give u the bang for the buck and MAC if u want to wast some money get it.

Considering PCs are predominantly used throughout the world and Apple has NEVER cornered more than 4 percent of the computer buying market, it speaks for itself! I like the freedom of choice of 100s of different hardware mfgs and the competition it provides causing lower hardware prices. I like the fact that I can run high-end software on my PC. I like the fact that when software comes out that requires the latest hardware, I can go out and buy it for a reasonable price, slap it in my pc and I'm off and running. I DONT have to buy or wait for the next Mac model to hit the market and buy a new computer! I like the choice of thousands of different software titles that WILL run on my system. I dont have to install windows on my already over priced Mac only to find the software I bought for a PC STILL wont run on it because it doesnt have the resources. I have NO problems with malware simply because I know how to use my pc. Quality? Apple computers ARE made in China just like everyone elses computer. Better OS? Hardly, osx is one of the LEAST preferred OS out there. It makes NO sense to buy a Mac when you can easily buy a cheap pc and run any of hundreds of linux platforms if thats what you desire. Apples ad campaign is directed toward the kids. Graphics on a Mac? Consider all the high-end cards out there that are superior in every way to whats available for a Mac, the idea that Mac graphics are the greatest is totally absurd. Bottom line is if you want to buy a computer because its cute, you probably shouldnt be using one. Go buy yourself some new duds instead. If you want raw computational power and freedom of choice, buy a PC. There is NO truth to the idea that Macs are any less susceptible to malware other than the fact that there arent enough users to warrant writing it. Coders are out to infect the masses, not a handful of Macs. Why spend 15 hundred bucks for a computer that doesnt run anything when you can pay 500 for one that does?

I like PC because you get more for the money and the fact that most people have it. More people means it's easier to get help if you need it. Virus's have never been a problem for me and I just use a $20 anti-virus from AVG. I see people asking how to fix their Mac on 'Answers' so I assume even Mac's have problems. Some people say Mac's are better for doing certain things, guess I'll never know.

If you decide to buy a Mac for running Windows, you will still have to get the same virus/spyware protection, and run into the same issues as a regular PC.

Now is a Mac worth buying for OS X?

I say: NO... for the following reasons...

SECURITY

Mac OS X was hacked in 2006 less than 30 minutes, and within 2 minutes in a contest in 2008, and within 10 seconds in 2009. In 2008, Linux and Vista were not hacked until another day when restrictions were lowered. Vista was next, and then Linux. In 2009 Windows 7 fell shortly after the Mac but Linux was unscathed.

Macs are standardized with Cameras, if your Mac gets hacked, the hacker can turn on your camera with more ease.

QUALITY/PROBLEMS

Contrary to belief, Macs are not better quality. Apple also has been changing suppliers to try to "lower the price" and thus lowering quality. Even with the lower prices, Macs still cost more, they spend a higher percent of budget trying to make it look pretty, and marketing.

Sample of problems: Deleting your Data (Snow Leopard), Overheating Macbooks, OS X- not responding to keyboard, some units with 16bit screens, etc. Apple statistics are misleading since Mac users with problem machines are more likely to go out and buy a new computer than PC users. Apple is lowering prices which means you can expect lower quality than in the past. Apple had switched the manufacturers producing parts. OS X also has problems slowing down.

Repairs are more expensive than PCs since the IMac, Mac Mini are compact units, and Apple charges a premium for their services. Some repairs can be done by another repair service but the compact design of the computer causes problems.

With an IMac, if the problem is with the monitor, the whole computer would have to be brought in.

Mac OS X has viruses (and significantly on the rise), a friend of mine has a virused Mac. As more users use Macs, more viruses will come out for it. Especially when users think "they are safe".

Aprox 90% of the market is Windows and most PCs have windows already pre-installed.

1) Some websites require Internet Explorer, to run IE on Mac you really get ies4osx which is the Windows version of IE running really buggy and illegal if you don't have a legitimate copy of Windows.

2) Supports more devices (printers and other things you hook into the computer).

3) More business software/games

4) Want the dock on OS X (Mac)? google/yahoo rocketdock, objectdoc.

5) Used by businesses.

ADVANTAGES LINUX :

1) FREE (most versions are)

2) Install software by either 1) Synaptic Package Manager, 2) Add/Remove 3) Opening a .deb or .rpm file (depending on distribution)

PLEASE NOTE: I compare Apple Mac's vs Dells best deal. If you really want an all-in one the Dell all-in-one has more ram, wireless keyboard and mouse and equivalent to $400 for free making the Imac still more expensive when you matching specs. Personally I don't think the All-in-Ones are a good choice, and consider them overpriced, lack expandability and repairs both more expensive and require the entire computer.

PS: Apple knows that they need to make Macintosh look different than PC so all Macs except the Mac Pro will not have a tower option. Apple's low end lacks expandability but it makes the Mac "look different", if Mac had a tower for low-end, more people would realize the similarities between the two.
