Hi,

I need help on fixing this problem "Insufficient Memory Error" on Win XP Home Edition. This error keeps on popping out after 2-5 hrs of continuous operation. I already used the TuneUp Program and scanned it with MalwareBytes. After that i restarted my PC and run a full scan using AVAST. I left it overnight, but when i woke up, the error appeared again when i'm executing a program like Google Chrome. The Start Menu's background is incomplete as well as the AVAST user interface. Also the Turn Off Selection (the buttons became bigger). I only have 768MB of RAM and at least 3GB of Hard Drive space.

I really need help fixing error.

Thank You in advance.

With only 768MB of RAM, you don't have enough for much of anything else to be active other than XP itself. Increase your RAM to 1.5GB at least, you'll probably see dramatic improvement in performance too.

You probably have a pair of 256MB chips and a pair of 128MB chips. Or maybe a 512MB chip and a 256MB chip if yout motherboard only has two slots for RAM. However your memory adds up to 768MB, you'd want to replace the lowest capacity chips.

Run the memory scanner tool over at http://www.crucial.com to see whats installed and what upgrades your motherboard can take. You'll be looking at buying used memory from Ebay, because it sounds like you've got a very old machine.

I'll keep this simple.

Insufficient - not nuff (as in, not enough).

Insufficient Memory - not nuff memory (RAM - Random Access Memory).

Insufficient Memory Error - Your OS (Operating System) is giving you an error message which means:

'I can't do what you want to do because you don't have enough (nuff) memory (RAM)'.

How to fix:

Git more RAM (same type (DDR, DDR2, DDR3) and speed (333, 666, 1606, 1666, whatever) as you now have.

Install new RAM in memory slots on motherboard.

(Go for at least 2 Gigabytes of RAM).

HDD (Hard Disk Drive) - 3 Gigs left is nuttin, ya cain't even do a DEFRAG on it. (Ya need 15% free space on it to work it).

Get rid of 'stuff' ya don't need or want.

How?

Use Control Panel > Programs and Features

Highlight (one click) those ya wanna git rid of.

Click ;Delete', 'Remove', or 'Uninstall' on the command bar (top).

Above depends on yer OS.

Empty 'Recycle Bin', periodically. If it gits too full, it won't work 'no-mo'.

Continue 'dumping stuff'.

Empty 'Recycle Bin'.

Smile.

Do some 'larning' about pooters.

PS: With low RAM, and background 'stuff' loaded, the RAM soon fills up and ya don't even realize it.

PPS: Windows XP is a RAM hog, UPGRADE to a newer version. (Takes less RAM).

Windows xp may be best OS.but if you can afford touch screen monitor then windows 8 will be a good choice. However it will comparatively clumsy than windows XP but In this changing world why should not prefer latest version. If you like any OS other than windows OS the you may go for Linux OS. You can use Ubuntu a very popular user friendly easy to use OS. But If are not aware about functioning of this OS it will be little bit difficult for you. You can also use windows 8 and Linux Ubuntu as dual boot method.

that's pretty obvious. you're computer is ancient. modern applications require much more memory. you don't even have enough hard drive space for a decent page file!

you simply do not have enough memory. if you want to avoid this, use only applications created for windows XP and before OSes.

You need more ram...you could use CCleaner to remove old history and free up some space in your hard drive!
