Question:
Why is my computer suddenly sounding like it's trying to run something and can't?

I have had my computer for a few years and it has never been this noisy. It just recently started doing whatever it is trying to do maybe yesterday. Basically I'll have it on for maybe 30 minutes and all of a sudden it sounds like a fan is running in the tower (most this noise lasts is maybe 10 seconds) and then it will stop completely or just quiet a little bit, then it might go back to being loud then stopping and immediately trying to start again and failing. Most it's quiet for once it starts doing it is MAYBE a minute. Does anyone have ANY idea?? Anything will be greatly appreciated

Jim makes a good point with the fan ball bearing, you can either replace that fan or take it out all together. Now if its your CPU fan theres only one choice, to fix it! And you need to find out fast. I would start by buying some canned dust remover stuff and blow out all your fans and as much dust as you can in your computer case. Also this could be a hard drive issue but i would try fans first.

Open up the computer and look in there and identify the noisy part and replace it. Its most likely a fan ball bearing going bad. Replacing a fan is easy and brainless. YOu can do it! Only if it is a CPU fan, you might want to take it to a shop unless you are ready and prepared to buy a new cpu fan/heatsink and install it yourself.

If it is the hard disk, back everything up IMMEDIATELY! And then, be prepared for a hard disk crash.
