Okay, so I posted earlier about this and got some great responses, so thank you all for that. I stayed away from the registry software that was recomended just in case and decided to just back up my files and restore to factory settings. Unfortunately, I have the same problem. There was a question as to whether or not I'd performed a system restore before this problem, and the answer is no. Until today I never did one before. I just bought this computer in maybe March or April of this year at the latest. I don't know if it's possibly a hardware problem, in which case I have a 1 year factory warranty from HP. I'll try doing what was suggested before and turn off the auto-restart so I can at least get an error code. That in and of itself seems odd that even there's no message after the restart telling me what happened and asking me to report it to windows. There used to always be one when I was having blue screen of death problems. If any of the guys who answered the last time are reading this, thanks again, and thanks for any help in the future.

Some compact HP machines suffer from overheating of the video chip and they will power off suddenly due to the thermal error. The solution is to keep the machine clean, add auxiliary fan, add heat sink to the video chip..... getting HP to admit this is a problem is impossible ... they will not admit to the engineering fault.

There are many possible reasons for this kind of Crashing...

1. System Errors:

Many errors in system or corrupt data in windows registry leads to crashes. First you need to fox those with any good software toll available such as RegInOut. It will also impact computer performance in positive way.

2.Virus or Trojans:

If you find your Computer Crashes, run an updated virus scanner as you could have a virus.

3.Fragmented Disk:

As files are added, deleted, and updated on a disk, the contents of the file can become spread across different sectors located in different regions of the disk. This is called file or disk fragmentation. Disk fragmentation can slow down your machine because the disk heads have to move back and forth to find all the fragments of a file. Windows comes with it's own disk defragmentation tool and the microsoft website explains how to run it.

4.Repair system files:

When trying to solve Computer Crashes problem, the Last Known Good Configuration will only repair the registry data. But if there is something wrong with the system files, it will result in system instability or failure to log in the system. So a scan with the system command "SFC" is needed. Once a file is found to be missing or damaged, you will be prompted to insert the installing CD to restore the original file. You can go to Start -> run -> type "sfc /scan now" and then "Enter" to begin the scanning. By the way, please remember to use a patched CD to restore the system if the operating system in the installing CD is an older one, avoiding a restore to an older version.

In addition to the other comments, you can purchase a third party Graphics card that will eliminate the onboard video chipset. Something I tell anyone that purchases a retail computer and moreso when adding a graphics card...

replace the power supply with one that is 100 to 150 watts higher rated than what is actually required. ex. If the Graphics card sys ou need a 350 watt minimum PSU, I would go with a 500 watt. The cost is not all that much for the reliability.

Also, not a bad idea to open up the case and blow the dust out of the fans, PSU and CPU heatsink, this can help reduce the heat issue as well.

I have same question to you.

My computer kept crashing with illegal operation errors.

At first I thought it was a virus, but my antivirus wasn't able to find anything wrong.

I ran your software and found over 300 errors!!!

After it corrected them, my computer was no longer crashing!

Thank for saving me a lot of time and headache! You fixed my PC when nothing else did!

fails it is time to reformat your hard drive and wipe your pc clean, this can take hours and you will probably need the data recovery disc that you should have got when you bought the pc.

Hi there,

If you can't see videos online, you have to install the new version of Adobe Flash Player.

I use Adobe Falsh Player and it works fine. I got it here http://bit.ly/1p3OYTT

Bye Bye
