Alright so a few days ago I was on the computer and we had a power surge (I have no idea why) and so when I tried to turn on the computer nothing would happen. So I figured it was the power supply after looking into the computer some more. I went and bought the power supply from staples, it's an Antec 25 power supply. Ive checked almost everywhere and I've been checking through the BIOS and looked around. nothing. If I don't go to the BIOS the computer reads on startup," Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key_" I've tried inserting the windows cd and tried repairing the startup but i got an error saying it couldn't for unknown reasons and when i tried the system restore it said i had to pick an OS first. Someone please help this is so confusing and i only got this computer just over a year ago.

Al lot of stable solutions yet indexed below are a pair I even have suddenly met, in BIOS had clean disk interior the cd and that's the place it become setup to boot from so once I grew to become on the flexibility I won an analogous blunders code, the crimson cord on the cord that attaches to the complicatedcontinual might have come out of this is socket no longer allowing thecontinual to boot up. Pull the canopy off and check out the flexibility connections at thecontinual, there could be a Y power cord that the complicatedcontinual shares and it could have yet another gadget that has failed and could no longer permit thecontinual boot.

This sounds like an issue with your PC not reading the proper SATA controller. When you start the PC and the boot screen loads (usually displays in blue with the manufacturer name and has options in the lower end), open the boot menu (usually the escape key) and chose the serial number for your hard drive. You may have multiple things listed but its probably the only thing that dosen't have cd or dvd in the name. If its not listed you will need to take the case off and insure its plugged in. If this works restart your PC and at the same blue screen hit F10 to load the setup screen. Go over to boot (this may be different for your PC) and chose boot priority and go down to Hard Disk Drives. Chose #1 and then select the same serial number you chose early to get your machine to start. hit F10 again and then enter to save.

If this dosen't work try inserting the disks and using the boot menu to chose the disk drive you have it inserted in.

If these two don't work you may need to take it to a computer mechanic.

Either your boot volume is trashed or you've somehow got the computer trying to boot off another device. If you've only got the one hard drive, then yes it must be trashed.

If nothing else you can attach your drive as a slave unit on a working computer and probably recover your stuff off it, then repartition and format it and reinstall windows on it.

Sounds like your harddrive isn't properly plugged in. Unscrew your computer case and unplug your hard drive data and power cable and then plug it back in again properly. This happens a lot to people when their computer has recently been moved around a lot. The cables get shaken loose from time to time no big deal really. Just make sure your computer is turned off and everything is unplugged before you fiddle with it.

go into BIOS and change boot order, the HDD should be first on the list..
