Question:
My Gaming PC Build !?
2013-03-19 02:18:01 UTC
This is my build, I haven't ordered it yet because I'm not too sure about it.

Case: Coolermaster Elite 431P without PSU Side Panel Mid Tower Case [$65]
PSU: Corsair 600W CX-600v3 ATX Power Supply,80 PLUS Bronze, 120mm fan
CPU: Intel CORE i5-3570
RAM: Corsair 8GB(2x4GB) DDR3, 1866MHz 2x240 Dimm, Unbuffered, Vengeance Blue Low Profile Heatspreader
Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme4-M Mainboard
GPU: ASUS GF GTX660 DirectCU II PCI-E 3.0, 2GB ENGTX660-DC2-2GD5
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB,7200RPM,SATA3,6GB/S, 3.5"
DVD: Pioneer DVR-220LBKS BLACK 24x DVDRW
Network Card: TP-Link TL-WDN4800 450Mbps Wireless N Dual Band PCI Express Adapter
OS: Microsoft Windows 8 64 bit
Case Fan: Antec "TrueQuiet PRO" 120mm with 2-Speed Switch
Total: $1193
This will be for gaming and my budget is $1200. I will be playing the Total War series, SupCom 2, Starcraft II, SWTOR, SimCity, Sins of a Solar Empire, BF3 & Arma 3.
Is this a good build and is there anyway I can minimize the cost whilst keeping the performance.
Or am I spending too much for the games that I want to play ?
I don't want to overclock either.

It's a good build. If you can push your money further go for the gtx 660ti

First of all, for a gaming PC you MUST get an after market CPU cooler, as the stock Intel cooler sucks and it"s also noisy.

Get Cooler Master V6 GT ($50) or at least a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO ($35).

CPU: Get Intel Core i5-3570K, better than the non-K version even without overclocking.

RAM: Unless you plan to do some serious overclocking, buy DDR3 1600MHz, both CPU and motherboard would only support 1600MHz by default

GPU: Buy GTX660 Ti, much better than the non-Ti version, and get either EVGA (Superclocked would be best), ZOTAC or MSI Frozr, those are the best nVidia card manufacturers.

OS: For gaming Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit is still the best.

Windows 8 sucks, it's just a stupid tablet / smart phone type OS on steroids, and it already has lots of bugs and problems. Stick with Windows 7, the best OS Microsoft ever made.

Wired LAN (RJ-45 Ethernet cable) connection is safer, faster and more reliable than wireless, so unless you will use the PC far away from your router, a Wireless card is just a waste of money.

Good build, No problems with it, Just try and stretch your cash in to getting the 660ti as the guy above said.

Dont worry about not being able to build it. If you need help, Our Live support team at P.T Networx will help you through it. Once you do it once you will always remember.

And you could always find some informative videos on you tube about custom building computers.

The worst thing you can possibly do is bend your motherboard pins when putting in the CPU. You will be fine :)

I really like you build but I also think you should go for the 660ti

Also get an unlocked version of the 3570 for $5 more so that you can overclock in the future and get better performance.

it is going to play the latest video games, yet maximum of them will artwork sluggish on severe settings. Why? Celeron isn't the gaming cpu sequence. Get an i3,i5 intel cpu, or a Phenom quad middle from AMD.

I have always been fond of the AMD's. Here is an eight core processor that is about $20 cheaper and I bet you can find a cheaper board as well.

Even if you are not overclocking, with heavy gaming you should probably spend 20 - 30 bucks on a good aftermarket heatsink. The stock on is garbage ( assuming it is the same that came with my i5-3570k).

It is a good configuration but an unwise build. You can build a more powerful Gaming PC for $200 less. Check and compare yourself to see if suits you.

Don't downgrade it, you want to play BF3, ArmA 3, right??? they are very demanding games. If anything, upgrade your PC but it should play them pretty good,
