I need some opinions on this computer I plan on putting together. I have never built my own pc. I'm looking to run multiple java programs as well as Diablo III. Let me know if you see any hardware missing or if there are any incompatibilities . My budget is no more than $850 and that must include windows.

It would defiantly run Diablo 3 no problem. It is a very good idea to have the same type of processor and graphics card. The NVIDIA cards seem to have less problems than the AMD or ATI cards. You also don't need the 6.0Gb/s SATA 3 connection on your hard drive. The 7200RPM hard drives can't transfer data fast enough to need a more than a SATA 2 connection. SATA 3 is mostly for Solid state hard drives. There is a good hard drive buyers guide here: http://www.omfgnetwork.com/2012/internal-hard-drive-buyers-guide

Hope this helps

first id like to recommend shopping at micro center, they are the cheapest place to buy, even better than newegg.

hard drive seems good.

video card not bad.

power supply may need more watts****.

ram is good.

not an expert on motherboards but im sure it will be fine.

burner seems good.

case is stylish.

i5 always a good choice.

I'm assuming an i5 CPU? Might want to look at options besides the 6870, there are other choices that might deliver more value for the money.

Well, I don't see a CPU in there. That's rather important.

---------

Get the 'k' version of that CPU and grab a CM 212 EVO heatsink for it (will add $40 total). This'll let you OC it... and it's really easy to get 4.5GHz at least with that setup.

Save a couple bucks and grab G-Skill ram, it's usually cheaper and just as good as Patriot.

Go down to a P67 or Z68 chipset motherboard and save some money. Unless you KNOW that you'll be getting a $400+ graphics card that supports PCIe 3.0 in the future it's a waste.

$130 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128502

$132 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131773

Both of those boards are good enough for what you need and support dual crossfire/sli while overclocking well. The only feature you loose is PCIe 3.0 and you probably won't ever miss it. Spending $250+ on your chosen motherboard with a $850 budget is ludicrous.

If you don't want to OC or run multiple GPUs then you could grab a H61/H67 chipset board for about $75.

The PSU is fine as long as you don't want to run 2 6870s in crossfire down the road: if you do, then grab a 650-700W psu instead.

Saying that AMD graphics cards have problems with intel CPUs is like saying you shouldn't eat Belgian chocolate in a Swiss car. It makes no sense at all. I've been using Intel CPUs with AMD/ATI cards off and on for 20 years and I've never noticed a performance difference between AMD and nVidia cards.

In fact, the ONLY problem I've ever encountered was FPS issues with ONE game and a geforce card. And that one game also suffered from console-itis.
