Whatd be the best cpu upgrade from an amd fx 4170 for around £150?

The FX-8350 is the best choice. Big upgrade from the FX-4170 and slightly better than the FX-8320.

Even though you want an upgrade i have the same processor in one of my gaming builds (the 4130) and i have it overclocked at 4.2 GHz and it works beautifully the only real world application in which you would need an 8 core fx cpu is if you are using it for a server i recommend getting better cooling and overclock your 4170 because its still a very good chip.

AMD FX-8350 is compatible with your current motherboard. It has 8 cores which is good for rendering. Slightly better performance and it is up to you. Upgrade CPU is not really worth it.
