Reliable Desktop PC's for under $500?

Question

Had my HP a6700y die on me today (going on 3 years).

Basic Specs:
4GB RAM
Phenom X4 9150e Processor (1.8Ghz)
nVidia GeForce 6150SE (upgraded to ATI Radeon 4850 512MB)
Windows Vista X64

Seeing as PC technology's evolving aggressively every passing year, I was wondering if I could get away with buying a better, more reliable desktop for under $500.

It would face about 4hrs+ of daily usage:
-Lots of YouTube video browsing.
-Schoolwork
-Gaming would be light, but not really a priority at this point.

What is this all about?

CPU&GPU are ok for light gaming, but PSU&MOBO are ready for upgrade (U'll be able to put i5 2500K & HD7970 someday because MOBO can handle OC of the CPU and PSU has enough power and good quality)
