What other computer companies allow you to customize the computer before you buy like Dell?

My last Dell had a lot of issues (HD Fail, Motherboard Fail, DVD-Rom Fail, and Power Suppy Fan Fail) so I want to check out somewhere else but don't know of any others besides maybe HP. I dont want to buy a prebuilt computer at the store with a bunch of stuff i dont need. Any Ideas or maybe other good PC parts sites like Newegg if I need to build myself.

Basically your two best options now a days are Newegg and Best Buy. Best buy is Newegg with the Geek Squad.. so if you want that inch more tech support (they sell tech support contracts now, no more one time repairs) you are just as well off buying components from Best Buy than Newegg...Best Buy has been catching up on component inventory, and they sell processors at near cost. Tiger Direct can be shoddy and Amazon.. is well just Amazon so that pretty much leaves you with Best Buy and Newegg. That being said both companies have promo codes.. and this site just happens to carry both:

It's always a good idea to check both companies when buying, one may have one component cheaper than the other.

Gateway and apple. But you can always by a computer and so many techs are out of work now you can find someone to customize it for you at a fraction of the cost. Also any parts you remove from the computer such as hard drive etc... you can resell on ebay.

If you're looking for a gaming rig, than there are plenty of sites and companies out there.

Here are some:

Falcon Northwest: Very Pricey for the components but you can custom airbrush your case; lifetime Warrenty.

Origin PC: Good price for your money, ships in a wood crate, you can choose whatever case you like, even if they don't carry it; lifetime warranty

iBuyPower: Excellent price for the components, however, wiring job may be sloppy and ugly. (not sure on warranty).

building yourself is a good option if you have good electrical knowhow and you know how to read instructions. It can be tricky but a cost saving option to having an equal priced model built for a markup.

Dell is the only one that will allow mass customization like you do, or if you go to your local CompUSA store, they will consult and take orders like that for you for custom computers and give you same quality as dell with different options.

Building your own is tricky but cost effective, but you dont get warranties on the computer itself. you also cant return parts that dont work to the store after you take them out of the packaging so choose carefully.

This is a new web site I found a while back. Vision Computers can be custom ordered. They have their own 3 year warranty, which is real decent these days.

Any hole in the wall computer store will help you configure a decent computer at a reasonable price.
