Go to http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Download this software, and install it. This program will give you information about your entire computer.

Once you have started the program, click on the tab that says "mainboard", and tell me what the model name is, so i can refer you to the correct CPU support list.

need your motherboard model number.

you can check to see what CPU's your motherboard can take.

to find your motherboard make and model:

Speccy

http://www.piriform.com/speccy

download, install and then open Speccy, go to the motherboard section where you will find make/model of motherboard.

put your motherboard model number into google, or go to the manufacturers website and put in the model number. locate the web page for your motherboard.

open the Support/download section, you will find 'CPU compatibility' list, open it.

have a look and see if the CPU model is listed, if it is then check the Bios version, you may need to update your bios version on your motherboard for the new CPU to work.
