I have Kaspersky Internet Security and I have run a Registry Scan with CCleaner and a full computer scan by kaspersky. My computer randomly freezes every 30 seconds or so for 5 second intervals. How can I fix this? It is really getting on my nerves. It seems not to happen as often if I get my CPU above 50%. What am I missing?

When your computer freezes up, one of the major causes are registry errors and corrupt files. The registry is what controls communication between hardware, software, and device drivers. When there are errors in the registry, the information cannot be properly communicated, leading the CPU to freeze up or crash. You may even get the "Blue screen of death".

I would highly recommend you download a top flight registry cleaner. You can get a free scan and diagnosis at:

Open your Task Manager and watch the 'Processes' tab to see which process runs up to 100% (or so) CPU usage when your computer freezes. If you click on the CPU Column header you can sort it high to low to see which pops to the top.

After you identify which process kicks off at 100% every 30 seconds you'll have to research what program its relates to. Most if the info is on that tab. You can take it out of your startup config if you don't want it to run or try the app to see if there are configuration options to fix it.

I'd say 75% probably you will find it there.

You missed he most obvious answer - RAM.

You didn't say how much ya got, I don't need ta know either, one things fer sure, it ain't enough.

All that Anti Virus, Reg. cleanin' and whatever else ya got runnin' only adds to the amount of RAM yer using up if ya got anything runnin' in the background.

Upgrade to at least 2 Gigs of RAM ta give ya peece o' mind.

The reason it don't happen when the CPU is above 50% is cuz the background stuff is done fiddlin' around.

Ya dinna give no info, so if all else is 'up-to-snuff', ya should be OK.

If ya got a PC with crap fer RAM, yer PC probably ain't the newest, mebba it's time to think about upgradin' fer real.

Look in proprieties to see what is running in the back ground

Try a restore point to a earlier date.

down load pictures to a external hard drive or disk to free up ram

all temp files eat ram that slows the speed of the cpu

defrag and scan disk restart.

go to control panel remove all unneeded programs.

if this doesn't work you may have a worm or you need a new hard drive.\good luck
