I was wondering how much it will cost to build a computer similar to this one:
http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/desktop-inspiron-570?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&redirect=1.

I was told that building your own computer can be cheaper. I am going to be using my computer for playing games such as Wow, Counter Strike Source, and other MMORPG's. How good of a computer can I build for about $300? Please Help!

AMD Vision SuperCombo (Athlon II X2 245)

Get this deal at New Egg for $330.98. Comes with everything you need except an Operating System. Prices on OS will vary according to what one you get. This will do anything you want. You will need to save for a video card as soon as possible. Some games will have lag without one. If you have a computer that is dead, that has an OS, you may be able to use it.

lol $300??? Not a very good computer. Building your own can be cheaper sometimes but usually not by much. Even if you just want to play games like WoW and css, you'd probably want to spend a little more. You wouldn't even be able to afford a decent video card with 300 bucks which is essential for gaming.

If you want to build a computer similar to the one you showed, then look up the parts on newegg.com to see how much it costs.

I guess you could do this for 300 bucks:

$50 250 GB harddrive

$40 2 GB RAM

$50 motherboard

$50 CPU

$20 power supply

$20 computer case

$20 DVD drive

$50 decent video card

For $350 I doubt if you could build a good gaming PC. I'm guessing you'd have to spend at least $700 if you want something safe, fast, and reliable.

Check out the barebones kits at Tiger Direct. Mine was pretty decent and I spent about $250 in the end. I don't know about the games you listed but I can play Sims 2 on high settings. It won't be great at that price but the kits are pretty reasonable.

A container is a container. Get a powerful CPU/mobo blend, paint or mod the container. and your wallet would be fats. that is wonderful what could nicely be accomplished with a jigsaw metallic reducing blade, some paint and a fan or 2.
