Question:
Best Desktop Already Pre-Built?

I am looking for the best deal on a desktop. I have a limited budget. Primary use is for school, email, basic stuff, we are not gamers, but my husband likes to play some games like Command and Conquer (pretty basic games as far as I know). If I have the time I like playing flash games. I do a lot of uploading and editing of pictures/home videos and need the storage capability. We do like to watch DVDs and/or TV on the computer. I'm not a computer geek and have no idea what the specs mean or how to build. Someday I would love to learn and build my own, but not possible today. Hopefully that's enough info to get some decent recommendations. thanks!

I'm not sure what your budget is, but you can get a good, middle of the road desktop that will do all of those things for $500-$650. My minimum requirements would be 4GB of Memory, 500GB Hard Drive and an Intel Core-2 Processor or better. Shopping new deals on eBay is the best way to price compare. Go to the link below for new computers on auction and change your sort to lowest price first.

This is what I would go with. The graphics are real decent. Integrated but equal to a low-mid range card. (Above a 5450/6450 card, about the range of a 6670 just slightly less, but not much.) Quad core, 4 memory slots for future RAM upgrades, there are slots to upgrade to a graphics card if you end up needing it, and USB 3.0 ports. I think the USB 3.0 is the most important feature for you. It allows faster transfer rates to USB 3.0 compatible jump drives and external hard drives. Trust me you will LOVE this feature. It makes a HUGE difference. Asus also makes quality components they are used by most gamers. Ask any geek 99 out of 100 will say Asus is a great way to go.

System Specs:

Cost w/Free Shipping $530

If you need to upgrade to a graphics card this is what I would suggest...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161403

Benefits - GDDR5 memory, DisplayPort & HDMI, no additional power needed, 7xxx Series (newest instruction sets), HIS makes quality graphic cards, good price for performance ratio.

if your not doing hardcore gaming, anything within the $500 ish range will do. I could go full on geek about the specs, but just look on the side of the box and if it says Dual-Core and 2 or 4Gb Ram (or sometimes they call it memory, which i think is retarded because thats not its name) then youre good.
