I have a Gateway GM5260 PC and when I press the power button, the computer turns on, takes a few seconds and then goes to the Gateway start up screen (with the Bios settings and Boot menu options) and it just stays there. I've tried waiting, by leaving the computer on and nothing. I can't press F2 or F10, because it doesn't do anything. And if inpress the power button it automatically shuts off, which it usually doesn't do (you would normally have to press the power button for about 3-5 seconds for it to turn off). PLEASE HELP IT'S AN EMERGENCY I HAVE A PAPER DUE TOMORROW!!

give this a try:

pull out your battery, power cord, wait 5 to 10 minutes

put the power cord back, not battery

power on and see if it connects

A wild wager, attempt unplugging it from the wall. Wait 10 minutes, then plug it in and attempt back. i assume that no person has been interior the computing gadget those days, and ought to have loosened some thing. if so, the subsequent likely suspect is the capacity grant - yet there is no longer plenty you're able to do different than take it to a fix place, except you have a tech-orientated buddy.

turn on the computer and enter the bios. when your in the bios go to boot priorities. once there see if your hard drive is detected and if so make sure its the first one that boots. one thats done unplug it pick it up and turn it over. then shake it like a baby. after that throw it at the wall as hard as you can. it should work then.

Its the OS, I would be extremely surprised if it was the BIOS, use the system repaid CD that came with your machine (if your running windows). Format and reinstall the OS.
