Hello i was hoping i could have some help choosing what is the better CPU out of these to.

I've got both and the Core 2 duo is the newer out of the two and the only reason i when over to Intel was to try out a core 2 and the AMD CPU i was using was on a micro board and i need something bigger!

(Socket LGA775) Core 2 Duo E6400 - Foxconn P9657AA-8EKRS2H Motherboard

http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/Motherboards/detail_overview.aspx?ID=en-us0000170

(Socket AM2) AMD Athlon 64x2 - GeForce6100SM-M (V1.0)

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=685&CategoryID=1&MenuID=21&LanID=0

Now i'm looking to either keep the best CPU out of the two but i don't know how to compare the two on an even par.

and if i keep the AMD what would be a good board to go with as i'm only familiar with Intel boards.

In a nut shell what CPU is best, is there a website i can compare Itel and AMD CPU's and what would be a good board to go for on either Socket sets.

Thanks and i hope u can understand me!

As you already have an Intel board, use it. Me, I prefer AMD.

I've got a Dell (I know, but it was available) Inspiron 1750 L/T, with a Pentium Dual-Core CPU T4200 @ 2.0GB, and the machine is slower than my old XP tower.

To be ordinary, i'm an AMD fan/consumer myself. I actual have consistently been happy with the incontrovertible fact that the AMD chips have been swifter than their Intel counterpart. So while Intel got here out with the middle Duo... i replaced into shocked that they've been able to conquer the present AMD lineup. by using "contemporary" I mean what AMD has attainable in retail real now. So in case you're making plans to construct your rig now or interior the close to destiny, I hate to confess it yet Intel is tops real now. Me, i'm waiting for what AMD is popping out with as a reaction to Intel's center Duo. Basing on previous traits, AMD is often able to come returned up with something greater effective... (I do wish that which will nevertheless be the case this time around). At any fee, if what AMD comes up with isn't exceedingly much as good as Intel's, then i will make the swap. So i visit attend.

They are both about the same in performance, but as you have the board already, save your time and keep the E6400.

I would stick with the Intel. They are designed to outlast the AMD processors.
