Does anybody know how to recover a computer? It gives me this error message when I first turn it on.?

The error message is :

we appologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardweare or software change might have caused this.

if your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shuit down to protect your files and folders, choose last known good configuration to revert to the most recent setting that worked.

If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the power or reset button was pressed, or if you are not sure what caused the problem, choose start window normally

Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command prompt

Last known good configuration

START WINDOW NORMALLY

use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.
seconds until windows starts: 20..19..18

This is the error message and I tried F10 but it gave me the same error message. I also took it to computer technicians and they told me that my hard drive is damaged and that they couldn't recover my file. I have a lot of very important files in there so can somebody help me recover my file.

Hi Rodas:

If you select the "Start Windows normally" option, the problem stays the same?, I mean, doesn't even that way your PC starts without problems?.

Actually there are lots of reasons for a PC to show up that options screen, but if a technician told you that the hard drive is damaged, he tried to get you.

I would suggest to contact a "savvy" friend of yours to take out your hard drive and connect it to his/her PC, that way you will be able to backup the files you wish to keep.

did you try the last good configuration? if you do and it still gives you an error message the hard drive is probably damaged. why did you press f10??? it said use the up and down arrow keys to hi light the option. try it again and hi light last good configuration. its kind of like windows system restore but its a more critical action. try this... if it don't work then try safe mode and think about what program you installed on your computer before this happened. that's the best way to trouble shoot. think of everything you did on the system before the problem. if anyone else used the computer ask them. u may be able to use safe mode and remove any malicious software that was downloaded or roll back your drivers to the old settings. did you install any new hard ware inside the computer? if so maybe you downloaded the wrong drivers for the hard ware and is made your system go screwy. that's the best i can do for you right now.good luck

You may have faulty hardware try doing a DFT scan for th hard drive and a memtest scan for the ram, the cytouch bootable tool has these included as well, however I have ONCE seen this happen because of a virus, a really nasty one so I will also post for you my virus block,

Chances are its going to take more then one virus removal tool to remove any problem, I suggest trying a few one after another, and then still you will need a bit of expertise to get straglers that wont be detected. You can try the ones I am going to list or seek help asdap before it gets worse.

http://cytouch.freetzi.com has a System Analyzer you can use to assess the damage. Just go there and look for the System Analyzer link on the main page!

http://avg.com/free

http://spysweeper.com

http://ad-aware.com

and google

Hijackthis

malwarebytes

trojanhunter

cwsshredder

or for more advanced users get the MRC repair tool and burn the ISO at

http://cytouch.freetzi.com/mrc.html

and also try using anything else you can get, just remember when you are done with one scanner to REMOVE it BEFORE putting the next one on or you will face issues! Good luck!

try another computer shop

that is why you should back up your files regularly if they are important to you and not wait till after your computer crashes
