There are no icons on my desktop.?

I only have wallpaper background and no icons. What should I do?

If you still have a task bar at the bottom of the screen, you simply need to right click on your desktop and select show desktop icons.



If you don't have a task bar, something most likely killed your explorer.exe process. Hit ALT+CTRL+DELETE to open task manager. Click File > New task and create a new task called explorer.exe.



If the 2nd is the issue you probably have more than just a missing icons issue and have come across a virus and I would suggest somethoroughh scanning with multiple programs.

For system icons right click on the desktop, go to properties, select desktop tab and click "Customize Desktop". You can remove them from there. Anything else, just delete them. Agree, I like a clean desktop with just my pictures.

if the start menu is gone too, then push ctrl+alt+delete to open task manager. go to file->new task and type "explorer.exe"



what happened it explorer probably crashed. explorer it the program that windows uses to display all folders and content. this can happen sometimes if your computer is slow/old/infected/working to hard

Go to all programs and drag them back.
