that motherboard is probably a Sata type motherboard, you are using IDE which is only there for the DVD drives.

i suggest since you have already bought a hard drive that is IDE that you get a IDE to SATA converter.

befor you do this see if you do have a SATA slot..

may not be positioned the same on the board.

or check the manual google the board.

you might be able to find a converter there. you will also requre a sata data cable. but you will be able to find a converter on ebay definatly!

if it is a IDE type then make your HDD master/with slave and dvd slave.

change the sequence that you have the drives on the IDE cable, you might have them in the wrong sequence. change the dvd one to the hdd and the hdd to the dvd.

You should make the HDD the master & the DVD rom the slave on the jumper pins.

I have found a couple of times some systems only work with the middle plug on the IDE cable connected to the HDD & the last one on the CD/DVD Rom & some have worked the other way round. Try changing the plug configuration around.

Hope this helps if not sorry.

Good luck

Are you 100% you had the jumpers set correctly, it is easy to get it confused sometimes, you could also try the cable select option, obviously with that one you'd have to have the HDD and DVD in the right order on the cable.

This might seem a stupid question, are you sure that you're putting the cable in the right way, pin 1 on the cable to pin 1 on the drive, they used to make it impossible to put them on the wrong way, but then they changed the design, pin 1 on the cable will have a red line on the cable, and the pin configuration is shown on the drives.

But either way you do it the HDD will have to be the Master Drive,

Hope that helps

It could be a few things: 1 the dvd needs replaced 2 the ide cable is bad 3 check the jumpers and if they are on CS move the hard drive to master and the dvd to slave 4 if the dvd and hard drive are on different ide channels then make sure that both are set to master

I am going to assume that you have the IDE cable hooked to both the dvd drive, and the hard drive? The hard drive should be set as the master, the dvd as the slave. In the BIOS, set the start up order, with the hard drive first, then the dvd. You should see both the hard drive and the dvd drive in the BIOS setup. If you do not, there is a problem somewhere. One IDE slot can handle both the DVD and the Hard drive.

Hmm, HDD on master and DVDROM on slave should work. Doublecheck your jumpers because they can be tricky. You can try setting the drives to cable select. See link.

Also, check your BIOS settings.
