My pc goes into standby whilst I have itunes or spotify playing music. It's really annoying! Doesn't the pc recognise this as activity or something?? I've changed my screen saver settings to come on after 60mins but i don't like it like that! Is there a way to stop pc going into standby whilst just music is playing?

What you need to adjust is the screen saver settings AND the sleep / hibernation settings.

In XP, Vista and Windows 7 go to the Control Panel, open the Power Options Icon and switch off the Sleep and Hibernation modes or at least extend the time to several hours if you must.

You can then set the Screen saver to cut in at any time you like, 10 minutes or longer and what happens then is the screen saver switches on and runs, the PC will not shutdown into the Sleep or Hibernation mode but will continue to play your music.

There is also a tick box on the screen saver page to not ask for a password on resuming from the screen saver, if you use a password or not it will always bring up the box to Enter the password so you can simply disable this by un-ticking the box.

Vista or 7 or XP?

Without an input command most PCs will just give up and go to sleep. I advise changing you settings to bind your power button to power save and not shutdown. this can be done in Control Panel - Power Settings on XP computers. Screensaver and standby/sleep can be set to different timers.

1. Go to start menu

2. click Control Panel

3. Type in 'Power'

4. change the Display Settings, when the screen turns off, etc.

hope this helps
