My System Specs are:

2.8 Ghz Quad core i7
6 GB Memory
2 1TB HDD
2 TB HDD
1 TB Backup HDD
ATI 5770 1 GB video card
Kaspersky Internet security
I use this custom built machine for gaming and for photo and video editing. I always hear the HDD's and see the HDD light always on and its kind of slow. I've disabled disk index and disk de-frag and it still runs the HDD like its on a torture test or something. I've even switched the drives around no luck. What could be causing this constant use of the HDD? Oh, forgot I even turned off my security program no luck on that either. Its slowing down my computer and I am afraid it will send my HDD to a early death.

>It could be that your hard disk has some damage to it (for whatever reason) and the system is attempting to locate and mark the damaged sectors. You should schedule a CHKDSK on the hard disk. See Windows Help to tell you how.

Second reason could be your hard disk is getting very full and or the FAT table is corrupted.

Third could be that you are infected (despite Kaspersky) and someone is using your computer as a zombie computer through a back door.

Could be that the PSU is starving your HDD of power if not then if could be because of your mobo not being able to handle the constant wave of data coming in, try unplugging the rest of the HDD's and just keep the main OS one in there boot up and that also means disconnect all power if it works it's probably a PSU issue.

Could be background programs checking for updates (Java, Adobe, Anti-Spyware, printer software, tollbars, even Windows itself). What add-ons do you have installed? Does the constant drive access occur when running in safe mode?
