There isn't any reason to update the BIOS, unless there is a fix that will benefit you. If your system is working smoothly, without any issues then you don't need to bother.
Reasons to update,
-Security, CPU Microcode fixes (See Meltdown and Spectre)
-RAM stability or compatibility fixes (You only need to update if you're having memory issues.)
-Overclocking stability improvements (You only need to update if you're overclocking.)
-If you plan to upgrade the CPU to a version that was released after your motherboard was released. (eg..... Ryzen 5 3600, which won't be out for another 3 months)

It might not be necessary but it is easy and quick and just might save you some trouble down the line. Just updated the bios on my motherboard took 3 minutes.

After working for more than 25 years with computers, I haven't updated any BIOS yet. If the motherboard really needs updating, I find it better to buy a new one, even if it means reinstallation of everything from scratch.

There is no need to update BIOS.

those updates are not usually strictly necessary. sometimes though an update is necessary to make a certain cpu usable with the board, for example. if you look at cpu compatibility lists for boards, you might see a column there where for each cpu it shows the bios update version required to support that cpu. the update also usually has a text file with it that explains what the update is for, and it's worth looking at that
