Intel Atom is not at all recommended.
Atom processor has many Hardware limitations:-
RAM 1 GB
HDD 80 GB
Display 256 MB
For Budget of Rs. 4500/-. I would suggest to go for
AMD Sempron 1250
Asus Motherbord
2 GB DDR 2 RAM

if u r so keen abt atom processors den go for it coz it is definetly much better dan ur p3.
but your p3 computer might have a ddr ram
so u cant upgrade only ur Mborad & processor
u need 2 upgrade ur ram as well & only few new mother boards have ide slots
so u u might not b able 2 use ur cd rom & ur hardisk as well
but dat is not a big problem u can use cables
before all dat decide wat ur budjet is i.e how much r u ready 2 put for ur upgradation
it is difficult 2 type all of em
if u tel me ur budjet i might be able 2 give a configiration dat suits ur budjet
have fun

if u have a desktop computr dont upgrade to intel atom because the intel atom processor is only designed for low power pc's such as netbooks and tablets.
if u have a desktop upgrade to P4 or something but not intel atom

Atom is definitely better than P3, but P3s used SDRAMs. So you have to upgrade them too.

Don't get Atom.It is a total crap.Get at least a dual-core.
